INDUSTRIAL BLADE APPLICATIONS

Industrial Blade Applications

Cutting tools matched to the machine, material and working duty.

Industrial blades do not work as isolated parts. The right knife depends on the machine, blade position, mounting method, material being processed and the result required from the cutting operation.

Kingstream supplies and reviews blade solutions for shredding, plastic size reduction, wood processing, paper and packaging conversion, shearing and industrial slitting. Start with the application, then confirm the blade geometry against your machine drawing, worn sample or installation details.

Which Blade Family Should You Review?

This is a routing guide, not a universal interchangeability chart.

Start with the working process, then confirm the machine interface.
Processing needPossible blade familyWhat must be confirmed
Primary shredding of bulky or mixed materialSingle-shaft or double-shaft shredder knivesShaft type, cutter position, mounting, clearance and material contamination
Plastic crushing or granulationPlastic crusher bladesMachine model, rotor/bed arrangement, knife size and fixing method
Wood chipping or biomass cuttingWood chipper bladesMachine opening, holder, cutting direction and working material
Paper, board or packaging cuttingPaper, corrugated or packaging-machine bladesMachine model, blade length, holes, edge form and cutting position
Plate, bar or roll cuttingShear, rebar or circular slitting knivesBlade geometry, bore/hole pattern, pair relationship and installation direction

A blade should not be quoted as a direct replacement only because it looks similar or is used for the same material.

MACHINE FIT COMES FIRST

Material Is Only One Part of the Selection

Two machines may process the same material but require different blades. The working duty can change with the material condition, cutting action and installation arrangement.

Material and Contamination

Consider hardness, thickness, moisture, shape and contamination such as glass fibre, mineral filler, wire or steel.

Blade Position and Mounting

Confirm whether the part is a rotor knife, fixed knife, shear blade, slitting knife or another component, and how it is installed.

Required Cutting Result

Identify whether the process needs cutting, tearing, chipping, trimming, slitting or another result.

REPLACEMENT AND OEM

From Application Review to a Confirmed Blade

  • Review: machine, blade position, material, photos, drawing and current problem.
  • Confirm: geometry, mounting details, cutting edge, material direction and quantity.
  • Produce and inspect: follow the approved specification and check dimensions, mounting features and edge condition.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Industrial Blade Application FAQ

Can one blade be used for several different machines?

Not automatically. Interchangeability depends on the blade geometry, mounting interface, cutting position, clearance and machine configuration. Similar appearance or the same material does not prove compatibility.

Do you select a blade only from the material being processed?

No. Material is important, but machine model, blade position, installation details and the desired cutting result are also required.

Are shredder knives and plastic crusher blades interchangeable?

They should be treated as different blade families unless the machine design and mounting details have been confirmed. A fitment review is required before replacement.

Can you work without an original drawing?

An initial review can often start from clear photos, measured dimensions, the machine model and an old sample. Final geometry should still be confirmed before production.

Can you supply custom industrial blades?

Custom and OEM requests can be reviewed from drawings, samples, machine details or a clear description of the cutting duty. Final material and geometry depend on the confirmed application.
