Check the seat and clearance

Confirm the part position, mounting face, fasteners, cutting direction and relationship to the fixed knife. Follow the machine maker’s isolation and installation procedure.

Reuse or regrind

Review the remaining material

If reuse or regrinding is being considered, send current wear photos and target dimensions. Do not assume a worn knife can be restored without checking its fit and remaining section.

New and heavily worn components should not be mixed without checking the resulting cutting height, working gap and rotor balance.

Single-Shaft Shredder Knife Questions

Are single-shaft and double-shaft knives interchangeable?

Usually not. The rotor arrangement, knife seat, fixing pattern and cutting direction can all be different. Confirm the machine and part position before ordering.

Can you match a knife without an OEM drawing?

Often yes. A clear photo, worn sample, machine model and key dimensions can provide a starting point. Final confirmation still depends on the mounting and cutting details.

What dimensions should I measure on an old knife?

Measure the overall length, width and thickness, then record the fixing holes or thread, seat contact, cutting profile and any corner or radius detail.

Should rotor knives and counter knives be quoted together?

If the cutting gap or wear condition is uncertain, reviewing both sides together can reduce fit and clearance errors. Send photos of the complete cutting area when possible.

Is D2 or DC53 better for my material?

Neither is universally better. The choice depends on abrasion, impact, contamination, feed condition and the existing machine setup. We review the duty before recommending a material.

Can you supply matched holders, spacers or screens?
